We are pleased to announce that OpenLMIS Version 3.12 is due to go live at the end of this month, and the latest update includes two exciting new features for users.
The first is a new mobile interface for the Stock Management service within OpenLMIS, which allows users to accurately represent their current stockholding. This can be done by capturing the current stock on hand of medical commodities at the healthcare establishment on a mobile device. The mobile interface for this service makes it easier for users to input stock numbers with a handheld device when access to computers is limited, or when experiencing network challenges. The data-entry process has been customized for a mobile device and the mobile interface adjusts for screen size, making it responsive and user-friendly.
The second update is new functionality that provides standard integration between OpenLMIS and One Network, a leading control tower technology platform. One Network is a multi-enterprise network platform for developing and hosting intelligent, agile, many-to-many software applications. One Network includes a range of logistics and supply chain management functions that have been developed to enable multi-party transactions and operations.
The option of integrating OpenLMIS with One Network opens new doors for advanced supply chain planning opportunities and allows for improved decision-making through access to more comprehensive data. Examples of the service extensions include quantification through demand forecasting; strategic stock placement through advanced inventory optimisation; leveraging of the demand forecast through advanced replenishment suggestions; and employing intelligent allocations for items in short supply, using the last-minute allocation algorithm.
The One Network platform is offered through Vitalliance, the organisation appointed as the new steward of OpenLMIS earlier this year. Vitalliance is a joint venture between Imperial, the largest logistics provider in Africa serving 20 countries on the continent, and U.S.-based One Network, a leading global provider of supply chain control towers. Vitalliance offers a unique combination of innovative network technology and supply chain expertise, gained on the ground in Africa, along with experience transforming operations and coaching local teams to proficiency. The result is optimal services, maximum value from funds, and better patient outcomes at lower costs.
