The OpenLMIS Community is excited to announce the 3.7.0 release of OpenLMIS! It is another major milestone in the version 3 re-architecture that allows more functionality to be shared among the community of OpenLMIS implementers. A collaborative process to solicit input from our OpenLMIS Community partners was used to ultimately decide which new features would be added during this release. To keep us organized and community-focused, OpenLMIS maintains a Living Product Roadmap whose content is continually updated as the community makes decisions around feature priorities and software development progresses.

What are the new features in 3.7?
For this release, the community decided to focus on the need to ease the administrative burdens for those who administer OpenLMIS at the country level. These users regularly need to update product information in the system, as well as coordinate system use across numerous levels of the supply chain. The new features in 3.7 will simplify the previously onerous process of updating products to just a few clicks, as well as allow administrators to send administrative messages to be displayed to all users on the system dashboard. This feature is particularly useful for notifying users of upcoming system updates, planned downtime, or information about specific orders in the system.

Upgrading OpenLMIS
If you are upgrading to OpenLMIS 3.7.0 from OpenLMIS 3.0.x or 3.1.x (without first upgrading to 3.2.x), please review the 3.2.0 Release Notes for important compatibility information about a required PostgreSQL extension and data migrations. OpenLMIS Community Meeting
Every year the OpenLMIS Community takes the opportunity to bring together OpenLMIS donors, implementers, technology partners, and other thought partners to reflect on the successes and challenges of the past 12 months, and strategize for the coming year. We aim to learn from what others have accomplished, share ideas for how we can build a more effective product, and convene to improve how we work together as a community. This year’s OpenLMIS Community Meeting was held in Johannesburg, South Africa from November 18-21st. An overarching topic for this year’s meeting with be ensuring sustainability of OpenLMIS Initiative. The meeting allowed the community to align on how we can adapt as a community to capitalize on new revenue streams, new implementing models, and adapt our current structure in a way that will allow the community to continue to grow and thrive without a continual stream of donor support.
