OpenLMIS is an open source, enterprise-class electronic LMIS tool supported by an international community of donors, partners, implementers, and developers. This community is dedicated to providing continuous support to the countries and health programs that implement OpenLMIS, with a strong, ongoing focus on improving data visibility within health supply chains globally.
The OpenLMIS Community is an open source community that supports the initiative through volunteered time and resources. The Community is made up of a global core team, a Community Manager, and health, technology, development, and financial-support partners. These partners provide technical expertise, financial contribution, leadership, decision-making, and innovation to the initiative. See our Collaborators page for a full list of community partners.
The OpenLMIS Community is a unique group of highly skilled partners working toward a shared goal of supporting and extending the reach of OpenLMIS globally.
The Community provides ongoing direction to product development and support to existing implementations, ensuring that the software is up-to-date and meets the most-requested needs of users in the field.
The OpenLMIS wiki is the online repository for current and historical information relating to OpenLMIS. The wiki captures the mission and vision of OpenLMIS, committee meeting notes, opportunities, the product roadmap, and much more.
The wiki is publicly available – users must sign up for a Confluence account if they wish to edit pages.
The OpenLMIS committees were formed in the fall of 2015, and meet regularly on a bi-monthly or monthly basis. We also engage regularly on an online discussion forum.
The OpenLMIS Governance Committee provides leadership to the OpenLMIS community by defining community processes, leading fundraising and advocacy efforts, and building a sustainable community.
The Governance Committee meets monthly, and is made up of key donor and implementation partner members. Meetings are open to the public, and all committee documentation is publicly available on the Governance Committee Wiki page. Committee meetings are held on our online discussion forum.
The OpenLMIS Product Committee works to “build the right (correct) product.” The Product Manager works on day-to-day operations related to the roadmap, requirements, and incorporation of features into the product. The Product Committee reviews direction, updates the OpenLMIS backlog as needed, shares information regarding implementations and their relevance to the OpenLMIS platform, and decides what work from implementations should be incorporated back into OpenLMIS.
The Product Committee meets every two weeks, and is made up of key implementation, technical, and technology partners. Meetings are open to the public, and all committee documentation is publicly available on the Product Committee Wiki page. Committee discussion are held on our online discussion forum.
The technical committee’s purpose is to “build the product the right way.” This group meets regularly to address issues of overall system architecture; setting clear standards for code quality, contributions and feature performance; encouraging contributions and evaluating contribution maturity; technical review of proposed features; and determining which features and code are allowed into the global product.
The Technical Committee meets every two weeks, and is made up of senior level developers/architects and experienced technical partners. Meetings are open to the public, and all committee documentation is publicly available on the Technical Committee Wiki page. Committee discussions are held on our online discussion forum.
We are committed to a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all who join the OpenLMIS Community.
